VNUS Vein Treatment Being Introduced in More Countries

The VNUS vein closure procedure has been introduced in India, illustrating how the demand for effective vein removal procedures continues to increase across the globe.  Worldwide healthcare products provider Covidien has made the VNUS painless varicose vein treatment available for the country. VNUS treatment is a less invasive method than most other options.

This varicose vein treatment is a proven clinical method that does not only focus on the cure for the swollen and bulging veins but also for its causes. It is said to cause little or no pain at all that is made using a small incision and the vein is heated using radio frequency sealing the malfunction vein.

Dr. Sriram Narayanan, a vascular surgeon consultant, noted that in India, varicose veins most likely cause problems due to the somewhat inactive lifestyle of people.  The VNUS closure procedure can provide a fast, safe, and effective method of varicose veins removal.  Dr. Narayanan also said that he has observed patients to have cosmetically benefitted from the procedure with less bruising than other varicose vein removal procedures. A patient can resume normal activities within a day after the treatment.

Dr. Rajiv Parakh, an Indian vascular surgeon, explained that his patient’s well being and comfort is his primary concern. The VNUS closure procedure provides Indians with the latest technology for varicose veins treatment.  He also said that they are confident that they can deliver a novel type of treatment which is not so invasive. As a result, patients would feel more comfortable and who have positive experiences with the procedure.

Other varicose vein removal options include sclerotherapy, laser therapy, endovenous thermal ablation, vein stripping, ambulatory phlebotomy, and endoscopic vein surgery. All of these procedures aim to close or remove varicose veins by preventing blood from causing bulging veins in the feet and ankles.

Venous reflux disease is one reason for varicose veins development.  This happens when the valves that are responsible for backflow of blood malfunctions or becomes damage.  The diseased valves can cause pain, leg heaviness and swelling limbs.

There are many reasons why varicose veins can happen.  Family history, gender, obesity, numerous pregnancies, age and lifestyle may have an effect in its development.  People who work for long hours in standing or sitting position are also prone to varicose veins. The discomfort and sometimes the skin ulcers and discoloration that the swollen veins cause more often make people resort to varicose removal options.  More women have treatment more than men due to the cosmetic issue involved.

A clinical trial on the effectivity of the VNUS closure procedure showed that it is similar to vein stripping. However, it has few side effects and recovery from the procedure is much faster.  Vein stripping has been the standard removal method and remedy for venous reflux disease.  The method requires anaesthesia and is an open surgical method. The malfunctioning vein gets pulled out from the leg.
