Richard Sadler is a private practice surgeon and leading vein doctor who practices at the Iowa Vein Clinic (a Division of Chest & Vascular Surgery P.C.) located in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Sadler originally began working as an attending surgeon within the Hyperbaric and Wound center when he first became a vein specialist. He became interested in investigating innovative therapies that were not available in traditional medicine. He was inspired by wanting to solve the chronicity and severe disability of venous disease and created the practice Iowa Vein Clinic. At Iowa Vein Clinic injection sclerotherapy, Venefit Procedure, stab phlebectomy and stripping are used to create a healthcare plan which is comprehensive and individual to each patient. Dr. Sadler performs most procedures using local anesthesia and Ultrasound imaging in his office. At Iowa Vein Clinic, Dr. Sadler also offers ambulatory phlebectomy, Asclera, foam sclerotherapy, thrombectomy, vein ligation, Veinwave, venous reflex test and more procedures used to treat venous disease, spider veins and varicose veins.
The Iowa Vein Clinic is dedicated to providing the best customer service possible to its patients. Appointments are made to accommodate patients whenever possible. A new patient undergoing a consultation will have a diagnostic ultrasound, performed at Iowa Vein Clinic in their ICAVL certified vascular lab by a Registered Vascular Sonographer. The results will help the staff determine the precise location of the disease and Dr. Sadler will complete an examination and discuss the options for treatment. One available treatment that is minimally invasive is the Venefit Procedure, in which a small catheter is inserted into the vein wall through a tiny opening. This delivers heat to the vein, causing the vein wall to collapse and the vein to seal shut.
Dr. Sadler regularly speaks for professional medical organizations on different clinical topics. He is Board Certified in Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine and Thoracic Surgery. Additionally, he actively practices Adult Vascular and Thoracic surgery and dedicates special attention to the diseases of the peripheral arteries, aorta, veins and lungs. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, the Underwater and Hyperbaric Medical Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Scott County Medical Society. Furthermore, he is the Deputy Medical Examiner at Scott County Iowa and a Staff Thoracic and Vascular Surgeon.
Dr. Sadler obtained his BS in Biology in 1974 from the Virginia Military Institute and completed his MD at the Medical College of Virginia in 1980. He graduated with honors in Aseptic Bone Necrosis in Hyperbaric Environments. He later completed a Vascular Surgical Residency and a Thoracic Surgical Residency at University of Iowa Hospitals, a General Surgery Residency at the University of California Irvine, and a Surgical Internship at the University of Southern California in LA County Hospital. He has been interviewed on the television programs, such as Good Morning America and Paul Sands Live to discuss treatments for vein conditions and varicose veins. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee.
I had a lot of problems with my legs before and I had big lumps on the back of my legs down low and I had big veins on my knees and I was so uncomfortable. By the end of the day, I could not get any rest and could hardly sleep at night. I had all kinds of problems with pain. I came over here and I am very glad that I did. I was very happy with the way I was treated and Dr. Sadler is very professional. He really cares for his patients. I'm proud that I had it done.
