Overview

Dr. Steven Epstein, M.D. specializes in vein treatment and is the director of Vascular Epicenter, located in Guttenberg, N.J., where he provides advanced therapies for varicose vein in addition to a variety of other specialized treatments.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Dr. Epstein earned his Bachelors of Sciences degrees in mathematics and chemistry from Brooklyn College and his MD degree at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology with a certificate of additional qualification in vascular and interventional radiology.

He has completed residencies in general surgery at Staten Island University Hospital – North Campus and in diagnostic radiology at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn Heights. Following the completion of his residencies, Dr. Epstein attended Montefiore Medical Center and was trained in vascular and interventional radiology. Through this specialized training, he was able to utilize the skills he developed from both of his residencies.

Dr. Epstein previously served at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Long Island for 10 years where he performed vascular and interventional techniques and trained other specialists in peripheral metal stent deployments.

He has been practicing diagnostic and vascular and interventional radiology at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, N.Y. since 2001. The hospital is a Level 1 trauma center and educational institution affiliated with the Albert Einstein School of Medicine. The institution offers several training programs in disciplines including internal medicine, pediatrics, survey, and radiology. During his time at St. Barnabas, Dr. Epstein was chosen as Attending of the Year by his residents in 2006.

In addition to his work in vascular and interventional radiology, Dr. Epstein has performed numerous outpatient procedures including fibroid embolizations, image-guided biopsies and drainages, and corrections of dialysis access grafts and fistulas. Dr. Epstein will continue to provide more techniques at Vascular Epicenter including treatments for veins, botox, derma fillers, cellulite/liposuction, smoking, and medical weight loss.

When he isn’t serving patients or training residents, Dr. Epstein spends his free time swimming, and occasionally participates in competitive distance swimming. He played and coached organized softball and football leagues in a past life and has the championship trophies to show for it.

Dr. Epstein has lectured for doctors and a variety of groups and clubs both related and unrelated to the medical field. He is a published author and co-author in vascular and infectious disease.
