San Diego Vein Specialist Zachary Rattner, MD is the Medical Director of Southern California Vein Care. Southern California Vein Care (SCVC) proudly runs a non-invasive, full-service vascular laboratory that provides the highest quality patient care to those in need of vein removal, or related procedures, in the greater Southern California area. In fact, our state of the art medical facility enables our friendly and experienced staff the ability to perform comprehensive vascular studies from the comfort of our own office in San Diego. Dr. Rattner and the friendly staff at SCVC provide patients with a wide ranging number of minimally invasive vein treatments that eliminate varicose and spider veins. All of SCVC’s varicose and spider veins patients receive a personalized consultation by our vein specialists so that the most effective and painless vein removal procedures can be implemented. Most treatment plans begin with a careful and thorough diagnosis made through use of ultrasound examination.

After diagnosis, individualized treatment plans are developed, depending on the needs of that particular patient. Such treatment plans may utilize some of the most proven and minimally invasive treatments including vein ablation treatment, laser sclerotherapy, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, handsclerotherapy, microphlebectomy, fluoroscopic assisted sotradecol embolization (FAST/E), and foam sclerotherapy. In addition to these vein removal treatments, SCVC also conveniently provides central venous access, gynecological, dialysis access, PVD/PAD, Botox & filler, Urological, spine/pain management, oncology, and Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) treatments.

Southern California Vein Care’s Medical Director is Zachary Rattner, MD. An Ivy League graduate, Dr. Rattner earned his undergraduate degree at Princeton University before obtaining his medical degree from Temple University. Dr. Rattner conducted his internship in Internal Medicine at the Pennsylvania Hospital followed by his residency in Radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He then completed his fellowships in Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the prestigious Yale and John Hopkins Universities.

Dr. Rattner is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology, with Special Competence in Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Radiology. A frequent lecture on vein diseases at both national and international medical meetings, Dr. Rattner has served on the faculties of Northwestern and Yale Universities. He also serves national committees as an advisor on behalf of the Society of Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Rattner is particularly interested in non-operative management of dialysis access, extension of healthcare through office based procedures, and in the spread of minimally based techniques to treat his patient’s varicose veins. He derives great satisfaction from utilizing his advanced radiology training to perform medically effective treatments while inducing minimal trauma. He also loves working with his patients on a daily basis and realizes that communication, and the use of effective medication, is central to diminishing these patients' anxiety and pain. To this end, it is oftentimes hard for him to suppress his decent baritone voice while administering his procedures.
