During the last 10 years there has been a change in the way varicose veins are treated in this country and in Europe. It is no longer necessary to surgically remove the entire superficial venous system. Varicose veins are now treated by endovenous thermal ablation, sclerotherapy and or ambulatory phlebectomy. Dr. Deak has incorporated these new treatment modalities into his daily practice. He now performs in office laser vein treatment under local anesthesia for varicose veins as an alternative to surgical stripping. This treatment modality allows patients to return to work the next day with minimal to no pain or discomfort. These new treatment modalities have allowed more patients to seek help for their varicose veins.

Patients no longer have to go to the hospital and have painful surgery under general anesthesia for the removal of varicose vein as their grandparents and parents did. Now patients' varicose vein and other venous disorders can be treated in an ambulatory setting with these new minimally invasive techniques. The results with these techniques are superior to the results that were obtained with open surgery and tolerated much better.
