How can I improve my vein flow so that my veins do not show on my legs?

Keep your weight down and exercise.

Activity, such as walking and exercise is good for circulation. Circulation in the legs consists of two parts : arteries bring fresh blood to the legs, and veins drain the used blood out of the legs and back to the heart. The calf muscle pumps the venous blood up the leg; the one way valves in the veins prevent gravity from pulling the blood back down. While walking and exercise are excellent for overall cardiovascular health, they do nothing for the visibility of veins on the leg. The visibility of veins on the leg can be to do with the way your body is built. In people with a low body fat content, the veins can be more visible. Think of professional body builders. Abnormal veins can bulge, but exercise won't help that problem. Compression stockings can help control spider veins and bulging veins. A vein specialist can permanently eliminate bulging veins and spider veins.

The best thing to do is to shut down the defective vein(s) which is(are) causing this abnormal "back flow" or reflux. This can be accomplished by laser or other similar methods. Once this defective vein(s) is sealed shut, blood will re-route itself into deeper and healthier veins and therefore those bulging veins (varicose) will eventually disappear.

Walking will help but the varicose veins will still show. You have to close the segment of the greater saphenous vein that has the reflux to get rid of the varicose veins and sclerotherapy or veinwave treatment for the rest.

The best way to reduce your venous pressure is to walk.

Circulation in the legs, both arterial and venous, is improved by walking and regular physical activities especially aerobic type activities such as bicycling, stair master, swimming, etc. Walking more and standing less, wearing compression hose, and in women treating anemia are all beneficial.
