How dangerous are spider veins?

This question was asked in East Greenwich, Rhode Island and has 3 answer(s) as of 05/02/2016.
I seem to have tiny spider veins on my upper rib area. I am a 40 year old male who has never drank. Should I be concerned about the spider veins? How dangerous are they?

Small veins (less than 1 mm in diameter) are not uncommon on the chest area. These rarely are significant. Larger veins around the shoulder, hips, or abdominal wall sometimes are significant. Most significant abnormal veins on the shoulders, chest, abdominal wall, or hips are associated with swelling or pain. If you have concerns, see your physician.

These are not at all dangerous. Sometimes they are caused by repeated pressure (resting things in that area). Women may get them from underwire bras. Do not worry.

There is absolutely no danger from spider veins! It is not unusual to have little clusters of spider veins on the trunk, though they are most often found on the legs. If you continue to develop widespread spider veins, it would be best to see your physician. It is very rarely a progressive problem.
