Video Overview

The greatest risk for developing varicose veins is the parents you have. Genetic factors are the main factors to determine who has varicose veins and who doesn't. Many of my patients come to the clinic and tell me that their mother, grandmother, or aunt had varicose veins that required stripping. Fortunately, we do not have to rely on the old-fashioned techniques and now we have new methods of treating these problems. Another risk factor for developing varicose veins is pregnancy. Especially if you have more than one or two children, the likelihood of developing varicose veins is much greater especially if your relatives have them, too.
