Ligation and stripping definitely require anesthesia and usually a general anesthesia. Treatment of varicose veins with the enclosure path venous catheter requires local anesthesia and is a very effective way to treat varicosities. Sclerotherapy requires virtually no anesthesia and is an excellent way to treating small to a mid-sized varicosities as well as spider veins.
