Video Overview

How does duplex ultrasound help remove varicose veins? Duplex ultrasound is used to see the anatomy, check the direction of blood flow and determine any blockages in the veins below the surface, not seen usually by the naked eye. It can also be used as an agent to sclerotherapy. The ultrasound can locate the diseased vein under the surface. The needle can then be directly seen entering the vein and the sclerosant is injected into the vein with full ventralization of the direction and extent the sclerosant travels.
