Video Overview

How does hemodialysis work to treat kidney failure? When your kidneys no longer work, you can't get rid of poisons in your bloodstream. A needle is placed into a vein in your arm called a fistula. The blood comes out of that needle into a machine that filters the poisons out, and then there is a needle placed back in the vein in your arm to put the blood back.
