Video Overview

Hello, my name is Dr. Joel Erickson. I'm a board certified interventional cardiologist and I'm the owner and medical director at Laser Light Treatment Center. I've been in practice for 24 years. How does venous ultrasound assist in the diagnosis of varicose veins? Well you don't need a venous ultrasound to diagnose abnormal varicose veins--you can see them. But a venous ultrasound is absolutely critical in getting you the best possible treatment for your veins. I've got lasers, I've got sclerotherapy, I've got phlebotomy tools, lots of tools to treat abnormal veins, but it's the ultrasound that allows me to sort out all the different patterns of abnormal veins and come up with the best treatment approach.
