How many treatments does vein removal typically require? Let us begin by clarifying that the invasive removal of varicose veins has fallen out of favor as a result of the development of newer techniques. These newer procedures have not only reduced the number of treatments needed, they have dramatically reduced the recurrence rate. While this seems like a simple question, the answer is dependent upon the extent of the varicose vein disease for a given individual. Equally important to answer the question is the type of treatment being performed. On average, the large bulging varicose veins require two to three visits.
