What is the importance of venous ultrasound? When a patient comes to my office for treatment of bulging varicose veins, the venous ultrasound study is the critical piece of diagnostic information that enables me to develop an optimal treatment plan for the vein problem. Ultrasound of the vein can rule out deep vein problems and most importantly venous ultrasound identifies the source or sources of abnormal vein blood flow that are causing bulging veins on the surface. It is a critical piece of diagnostic information that helps to develop the vein treatment plan.
