Video Overview

What is ultrasound guided sclerotherapy? There are three main treatments to close or get rid of abnormal superficial veins; endovenous laser ablation for long straight veins, microphlebectomy for gigantic bulging veins, and the most commonly used treatment, sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy is injection of chemical into abnormal veins with the chemical causing an irritation of these veins that results in closure. But, a lot of the trouble with varicose veins are caused by abnormal veins under the surface that cannot be seen in that fashion, hence the ultrasound. The ultrasound allows us to visualize the source veins and inject the scleroscent into the vein. With ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, a vein clinic like ours can get optimal results.
