Video Overview

What is vein ligation and vein stripping? Vein ligation and stripping, until recently, was the main therapeutic option for treating varicose veins. Vein ligation refers to the ligation of the great saphenous vein through a small incision in the groin and a smaller incision just below the knee. A plastic disposable stripping device is then inserted into the vein at the level of the knee into the groin, vein is then gently imposed to remove from the body. Since the advent of venous closure technique, classic ligation stripping has become a second tier form of treatment.
