Video Overview

What is venous insufficiency? Blood is only supposed to travel in one direction in the vein which is back toward your heart. The problem occurs when the vein doesn't work anymore. It gets too big. The valves don't work, and blood travels in the wrong direction. What happens is pressure builds up and when the pressure builds up, you balloon out those veins under your skin. You wind up with varicose veins.
