Video Overview

Will fibroids cause a problem during pregnancy? Fibroids are common enough that many women carry healthy babies to term with no problems. For other women, difficulties with conception, as well as spontaneous abortion after conception, can occur. The appropriate treatment really depends on the woman's desire to become pregnant and the extent of the disease in the uterus. Women with more limited disease may be appropriately treated with a surgical procedure called myomectomy. For other women with more advanced disease, a procedure such as uterine artery embolization may be appropriate for their life circumstance.
